What is magnesium chloride?
Magnesium chloride is a salt made of magnesium and chloride. It is often called a “magnesium salt”. It dissolves easily in water, which is why it is popular for baths and soaks, and it can also be made into a concentrated solution sold as magnesium oil.
Where do our flakes come from?
Cutetonic magnesium chloride flakes come from the waters of the Dead Sea. Dead Sea water contains approximately 170 grammes of magnesium chloride per litre. Solar evaporation concentrates this to around 420 grammes per litre (a 33% concentration). A further heating step turns the concentrated liquid into flakes or pellets of consistent quality, which contain approximately 47% magnesium chloride.

Magnesium flakes: how to use them
The flakes are highly refined and dissolve easily in water. Check the directions on your pack for how much to use, then try one of these:
- Foot soak: dissolve flakes in a bowl of warm water, stir until clear, and soak your feet while you read or watch something.
- Bath soak: add flakes to a warm bath, stir the water and enjoy a soak with a good book at the end of the day.
- Homemade magnesium solution: dissolve flakes in water to make a solution at the strength you prefer, for use as a topical spray or splash. Store it in a clean, labelled bottle.
